Original Promptfirst day of school Activity and I need slide for it. basically I want the to guess the idiom. like for example "piece of _______" and they would each have 5 seconds to guess before I give someone else a chance. I need a lot of common idioms so the game can last at leas 10-15 minutes and then maybe they can each try to come up with their own idiom/ remember one and share with the class. for the slides I want pictures to go with each idiom or after each idiom as either a hint or a reveal.
This learning resource provides an engaging game called 'Guess the Idiom' that allows participants to explore and understand idiomatic expressions in a fun and collaborative way. It starts with a brief explanation of what idioms are, emphasizing their non-literal meanings and their role in enriching language. The game involves guessing missing words in idiomatic phrases based on hints provided. Examples include idioms like 'Piece of Cake,' 'Under the Weather,' and 'Break a Leg,' each followed by a brief description that clarifies their meanings. The resource also encourages reflection on the challenges of understanding idioms and promotes a group discussion on the significance of idioms in everyday conversation, highlighting how they add flavor, culture, and emotion to language. An activity section invites participants to create and share their own idioms, fostering collaboration and creativity.
