This learning resource focuses on identifying the vertex and axis of symmetry of absolute value functions. It provides a detailed explanation of the transformation of the parent function f(x) = |x|, and breaks down the equation y = a|x - h| + k to determine the vertex, which is the point (h, k), and the axis of symmetry, represented by the vertical line x = h. The resource includes a graph modeling a light beam and asks students to analyze it by identifying the vertex and axis of symmetry. Additionally, it features practice problems that allow students to apply their knowledge and reinforce their learning through mapping transformations of various absolute value equations.
