Original Prompt

Students will use straws to blow cotton balls or tissue paper across a table to observe how air pushes objects. Students will experiment with gentle and strong blows to compare how far the objects move. Students will record their observations using a simple worksheet showing how far the objects moved.Should be a table. - The mathematical emphasis* is on comparing distances.

This learning resource focuses on the principles of air pressure and its effects on moving objects. Students will experiment with different strengths of air by blowing gently and strongly on cotton balls and drinking straws. They will compare and record the distances traveled by each object based on the applied air strength, allowing them to understand how varying air forces can influence movement. The activity culminates in a personal discovery statement where students articulate their findings on which object traveled further using either a gentle or strong blow.
