This resource is designed to prepare students for reading the first two chapters of 'The Lion King' by activating prior knowledge and building vocabulary related to themes such as family, the African savanna, and growing up. It includes a vocabulary preview that introduces key terms like 'savanna,' 'responsibility,' and 'circle of life,' which are essential for understanding Simba's journey. The document features story prediction cards that encourage students to predict events in the narrative based on imagery, followed by comprehension questions focused on character development and moral lessons as imparted by Mufasa. Activities involve using vocabulary in context, reflecting on the themes of responsibility and courage, and understanding cause-and-effect relationships in the story, all intended to deepen comprehension and engagement with the text.
