Original Prompt

teaching perimeter and feet to yard conversions to 4th grade

This resource focuses on the calculation of the perimeter of polygons and the conversion of lengths between feet and yards. It details the goal of computing the perimeter in feet and converting values to yards, with success criteria emphasizing the correct summation of sides and unit conversions (3 ft = 1 yd). The document provides a clear rule stating that the perimeter is the sum of all sides. An example is given to demonstrate the process of determining perimeter from the dimensions of a rectangle, followed by various independent practice problems that require students to calculate perimeters and perform conversions. Additionally, there are conversion word problems included to reinforce the understanding of the relationship between feet and yards, as well as a metacognitive calibration question to reflect on individual learning experiences regarding conversions.
