Original Prompt

I need to teach 5th graders how to write story problems. Can you make me a worksheet with the following math problems? 1/3 times 4 = 4/3, 1/2 times 6 = 3, 1/3 divided by 4 = 1/12, and 1/2 divided by 3 = 6. I need one page worksheet with space for students to write out a word problem for each.

This learning resource engages students in creating original story problems based on specific fraction multiplication and division equations. The goal is for students to contextualize mathematical concepts by connecting them to real-life scenarios. Students are presented with four equations—two for multiplication and two for division—and are prompted to craft corresponding story problems that illustrate these mathematical operations in a relatable context. By doing so, students enhance their understanding of fractions and improve their problem-solving skills in a creative way.
