This learning resource focuses on understanding the application of percentage discounts in a retail context. It guides participants through a team huddle where they will discuss the concept of the 'whole' price as it relates to discounts. Initially, a retail price is introduced, and teams engage in tasks to calculate a 10% discount and examine the differences between the original price and the discounted price. Participants will map out the journey of the shoe price through markdowns and explore the implications of successive discounts, including a 'double discount' scenario. Finally, they will reflect on how markups and discounts affect the overall price, emphasizing the dynamics of the percentage system in pricing strategies.
