This learning resource focuses on the concept of equivalent fractions using the Multiplier Rule. It aims to help students understand and generate equivalent fractions by employing visual models and multiplication or division methods to illustrate that a fraction a/b is equivalent to (n*a)/(n*b). The lesson begins with a review of the basic components of fractions: the numerator and the denominator. It provides clear step-by-step instructions on how to find equivalent fractions by multiplying the numerator and denominator by the same number, ensuring the value of the fraction remains unchanged. Students will engage in a variety of activities including replicating models, collaborating with peers, and independent problem-solving exercises to solidify their understanding of how equivalent fractions work. This includes visual and numeric exercises, confidence ratings, and reflection on their learning.
