Students divide into teams and play a dice game, the dice determining which subjects and verbs to conjugate. Check out the preview to see exactly how you can use this activity in your French classroom to practice 32 different être expressions as well as the conjugation of the verb in any tense you wish. Use this quizlet set to have your students practice the 32 expressions used in these games. The images you see on the quizlet are the same as those on the expressions list that is included.

Students work in teams. One student per team is in charge of checking everyone's work. You'll need two dice per team. The first die indicates the subject to use and the second indicates which être expression to identify. Only the images are shown. There is no English written anywhere on these games.

These word search worksheets will help your beginner French students of all ages learn the days of the week and the months. Great for core French, immersion schools, and even beginner secondary students!

This resource includes a worksheet with a blank grid for students to create their own word search. All of the days and months are written on the sheet. When they've finished making it they can exchange with another student and solve each solve the puzzle made by their classmate. 3 ready-made word searches are included. You can choose which one to give your students as each one is of a different level of difficulty. I like to print the ready-made search that I want to use on one side of a paper, and print the make your own version on the other side. I have used this resource with 8 year old students as well as 14 years olds. Please note that due to the nature of the word search I have not included accents in this resource. This resource is included in my French months and days bundle.

✮ French months and days word search activities - Les jours et les mois ✮

These 3 French definite and indefinite articles worksheets are best for students who have been studying French for a while, but who still struggle with understanding how and when to use definite as opposed to indefinite articles. These exercises will help students remember why we need to use articles and the reason why choosing the correct one is so important.

The focus of these exercises is to choose correctly between definite and indefinite articles. Sometimes it is difficult when students don't know if the noun in question is masculine or feminine. That's why there is one worksheet that uses only masculine & singular nouns, another that uses only feminine & singular nouns, and one more that uses only plural nouns, masculine and feminine.

You'll notice that the vocabulary used is more advanced than what it is when you first teach articles. These exercises are really to help non-beginners who still struggle to remember how and when to use definite and indefinite articles.

Do you find it nearly impossible to find French grammar based reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities?  The focus on specific grammar themes seems to get pushed aside when you want to incorporate all of the other skills.  This is a set of four booklets based on French partitive articles. 

When you’re teaching articles, you may not want everything you do to be absolutely grammar based, because that can become boring.  

This set of four one-page front and back, no-prep booklets includes reading comprehension with questions, a grammar quiz, a writing exercise with three activities, and a partnered writing and speaking activity. 

These activities are not meant for teaching articles. They do not include rules. The activities in these booklets are not for absolute beginners.

These activities are meant to provide your students with an opportunity for a challenging review of this grammar topic.

All of the booklets are based on mastering French partitive articles.

Once you’ve taught the rules, it’s time to have some fun with articles!

Être and Descriptive French Adjectives - Correct the mistakes - No prep printable

A simple, fun, and no-prep one page BELL RINGER worksheet in which beginner French students identify mistakes that have been made in sentences using the verb être in the present tense with descriptive adjectives. Students underline the mistakes (the verbs are conjugated incorrectly, and the adjectives do not agree with the nouns they describe). Once they've identified the mistakes, they rewrite the sentences on the line provided. Answer key is included.

This worksheet could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or completed on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools.

Dots and Boxes Game - ALPHABET - French or ANY language - No prep printable

An easy and fun no-prep game that will elicit a lot of exposure and pronunciation for the alphabet in FRENCH or ANY LANGUAGE! This is a one-page dots & boxes game including directions. This game could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools. This game is included in my Ça y est, Je parle français! French 1 & 2 curriculum.

Objective: Complete more boxes than your component. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the letters on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most.

Engage and challenge your students when reviewing French definite, indefinite, and partitive articles with this set of 75 challenge review cards. Take a look at the preview to see ways that you can use these grammar challenge cards in your French classroom.

This is a set of 75 cards to have your students practice choosing between partitive, definite, and indefinite articles with food and drinks.

All cards are written in the present tense and use the same food vocabulary found in my 20 questions game that also is great for reviewing the French partitive.

Each card has a sentence in which students fill in the blank using the correct article. Verbs of preference are used for definite articles. There are plenty of expressions of quantity and negation used in this set of practice cards.

These cards are only in French, so they are suitable for core French or immersion classes.

Do you find it nearly impossible to find French grammar based reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities?  The focus on specific grammar themes seems to get pushed aside when you want to incorporate all of the other skills.  This is a set of four booklets based on French definite, indefinite, and partitive articles. 

When you’re teaching articles, you may not want everything you do to be absolutely grammar based, because that can become boring.  

This set of four one-page front and back, no-prep booklets includes reading comprehension with questions, a grammar quiz, a writing exercise with three activities, and a partnered writing and speaking activity. 

These activities are not meant for teaching articles. They do not include rules. The activities in these booklets are not for absolute beginners.

These activities are meant to provide your students with an opportunity for a challenging review of this grammar topic.

All of the booklets are based on mastering French definite, indefinite, and partitive articles.

The reading comprehension booklet includes:

This French verb "être" scrambled sentences worksheet is a no prep printable that you can use to have your students putting words in the correct order to form grammatically sound sentences using the present tense. 10 sentences are provided, and some include negation.

The sentences in this exercise are 10 to 14 words in length and are a good challenge for beginners. An answer key is included.

✮ French months and days word search activities - Les jours et les mois ✮

Teaching French être expressions?  Looking for an engaging way to get your French students to build their communication skills and vocabulary? Taboo is a fun French speaking and listening game where one student has to guess a word based on clues given in French by other students. The catch is that they cannot mention anything that is included in a list of taboo words.

All of the words on each card are written in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students whether they are beginners or very advanced. Classic French Taboo Games Bundle - 3 Versions

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card.

Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

8. How to use this lesson

Dictée #1 : This dictée is less than 3 minutes. Give each student a response sheet.

Students listen to the dictée and write the number they hear both as words and digits.

Dictée #2 : This dictée lasts about 10 minutes and requires a lot of concentration. It is called CALCUL RAPIDE. Students hear 50 simple math equations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Technically students as young as 9 or 10 should be able to do the math. I got this idea from my daughter’s 3rd grade class in France (CE2). Of course, being in French makes “simple math” a lot more difficult and will challenge even high school age non-native speakers.
