Equivalent Expressions Bundle

by MsVisualizer

Includes a card sort illustrating the properties of operations and a printout activity where students determine which expression is not equivalent.

The bonus file is notes that follow the concrete representational abstract progression to help students develop a better understanding of the properties of operations.

Great for an introduction to equivalent expressions and using variables to represent unknown values in 6th grade.

Equivalent Expressions Odd One Out - Which One Doesn't Belong

By MsVisualizer

Do your students need practice determining equivalent expressions with exponents, the commutative property, the distributive property, and more with just numbers and with variables? This activity is great for independent practice or group work! There is one page with just numbers and one page with variables.

In each row, there are 3 equivalent expressions and one that is not equivalent. Find the odd one out. Answer Key included. Perfect for a substitute day!

Includes exponents but no negatives.

This would unfortunately not work with the "Which One Doesn't Belong" routine because for these, there is one correct answer for each set of expressions.

Page 2 has expressions with variables that make use of the distributive, commutative, and associative properties and simple exponent rules.
