French Advanced Level Review Challenge Cards Bundle

by Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Engage and challenge your advanced level French students when reviewing major French grammar topics with 30 sets of challenge review cards. Take a look at the preview to see ways that you can use these grammar challenge cards in your French classroom. This bundle saves you 20%.

Click here for my beginner level review cards bundle.

Click here for my intermediate level review cards bundle.

Each set of challenge review cards includes:

  • 25 to 150 challenge cards
  • 4 pages per card for easy printing and cutting out (or use digitally)
  • Answer key

Challenge review cards are my "go to" resource for every single grammar topic that I teach, from beginner to advanced levels. There's something about changing up the routine from boring desk work that is very motivating to students. They appreciate working with partners or small groups, and YOU will really love hearing them practice all of the grammar they've been learning while SPEAKING French.

You will be able to pull out these sets of cards again and again, year after year, as you teach and reteach basic grammar concepts. It's never a bad idea to pull out a random stack even with your more advanced students to give them a solid review of certain things they may have forgotten.

These challenge cards can easily carry you through your whole career as a French teacher, and they'll save you so much time. If you like to print and have hard copies for your students to hold, I recommend laminating them and hooking them together with a ring.

I have baskets of these cards ready to pull out and go at the drop of a hat. When you give students the answer keys they can easily work independently. How about never needing to prepare for a sub on days when you can't be there?

Teacher Testimonial:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I offer these right now as a "daily challenge" activity.  Not all of my students have verb conjugation skills, but this contest type activity gets them engaged and interested in making an attempt and slowly, over time, I see that they are putting the pieces together on what they are actually doing.  These cards are beautiful and I laminated them and will find many ways to use them in the future.”

French Relative Pronouns QUE - QUI - OÙ - DONT Challenge Task Cards Activity

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

This is a set of 140 French relative pronouns practice cards focusing on QUI - QUE - OÙ - DONT. These cards are so much more fun (and challenging) than classic worksheets. There's lots of repetition, and that's what our students need to practice and master these confusing relative pronouns. My students find it particularly fun to use these cards as a guessing game with a partner or small group, and even the mysterious DONT becomes a lot easier! Check out my QUI - QUE - OÙ - DONT Resource Bundle.

Each card displays an image, and beneath the image it is written how to say it in French. For example, C'est un lave-vaisselle. Students are prompted to say at least two sentences using relative pronouns to describe the image, and their partner(s) have to guess what it is. At the top of the card it may say C'est quelque chose que..... or C'est quelque chose dont..... and at the bottom of the card it may say C'est quelque chose où..... or C'est quelque chose qui..... Students have to finish the sentences using correct grammar, and they need to give enough information for their partner to make an intelligent guess.

In the beginning, it can be very difficult for students to formulate their own sentences, and that's why there are two sets of 70 cards included with this resource.

SET ONE: The cards have two clues already written on them. This is a nice way for students to warm up to the activity, understand how it works, and get in some valuable practice and examples. In this version, students read the clues to their partner(s) and soak in the grammar while their peers practice their listening skills.

SET TWO: These are the same cards, but the clues are not written on them. Students will have already practiced with SET ONE, and should be able to come up with their own sentences (and if they remember the ones from SET ONE... all the better)! The only clues they are given is whether they should follow the prompt with a subject or verb since those rules can be tricky and hard to remember.

These practice cards provide a quick NO PREP activity that you can use for years to come. You have the option of printing and cutting out the cards (4 per page - laminate if possible) or having students use the PDF file on their devices (1 per page).

Included:

70 numbered practice cards with clues - 4 per page for printing and cutting out

70 numbered practice cards with clues - 1 per page for projecting or online use

70 numbered practice cards without clues - 4 per page for printing and cutting out

70 numbered practice cards without clues - 1 per page for projecting or online use

French Verb FALLOIR With Indirect Object Pronouns Challenge Task Cards - Il Faut

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

French verb FALLOIR - Present tense with indirect object pronouns

This French lesson is for intermediate learners who have learned il faut and indirect object pronouns. It is meant to show the many ways to use the verb falloir - need without using the subjunctive. Students will learn the different meanings this verb can have and how to easily start speaking more like a French person in terms of expressing what they need (instead of using avoir besoin de and devoir). This quiz is included in my French Verb FALLOIR With Pronouns Bundle.

This resource is also included in my French 2 curriculum: Ça y est, je parle français!

Here's what's included:

  • Video tutorial - 23 minutes
  • Thorough 1 page study guide - PDF
  • 80 practice cards using FALLOIR + numbered answer key

This resource includes two versions of the 80 practice cards. One version has four cards per page that you can print and cut them out in case you want your students to work with a partner or in small groups. The other version is a PDF with only one card per page so that you can either project them for a whole class activity or have students practice on their tablets or computers.

This resource includes a video lesson which you may or may not choose to use, but even if you want to teach the lesson yourself I think you and your students will appreciate the one page study guide that is included. I've put all of the important information from my video lesson on it as well as some helpful hints.

The 80 practice cards will help students to know how to talk about what they must do, what they have to do, and what they need. This resource is included in my subjunctive bundle (even though this resource does not use the subjunctive, it is related material)

Advanced French Reflexive Verbs Challenge Task Cards Activity

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Advanced French Reflexive Verbs - 40 Practice Cards - Present - Past - Future

This resource includes 40 practice cards to help your students learn and master how to use 40 different French reflexive and reciprocal verbs in the present tense, passé composé, and futur proche. This set of cards is more advanced than my beginner level set because many of the verbs used are idiomatic, and special grammar rules apply to many of the cards in the passé composé (body parts, faire causative, indirect objects). This resource is an excellent way to challenge your more advanced students who have already learned how to use basic reflexive verbs. Each card displays a verb in the infinitive that students should conjugate in the 3 tenses. This resource is included in my reflexive verbs bundle.

The answer key includes the present tense, the passé composé, and the futur proche.

Included:

  • 40 practice cards
  • Answer key
  • List of 40 verbs in French and English

French TOUT Adjective, Adverb, Pronoun, Idioms Challenge Task Cards Activity

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Advanced French Grammar: 50 Challenge Cards using TOUT

4 page grammar lesson with examples, 50 challenge cards, 50 cards with grammar explanations, and quiz/worksheet. This resource is included in my French TOUT - Adverb, Adjective, Pronoun, Idioms - Bundle.

This resource will provide your intermediate to advanced students with a good way to practice and review the many ways to use TOUT in French. A lot of resources only include basic information and exercises using TOUT as an adjective.

It can be difficult to find a resource that mixes up all of the many different ways to use TOUT, and when to pronounce the S on TOUS. For example, "Ils sont tous contents" means "They are all happy" while "Ils sont tout contents" means "They are very happy."

The following ways to use TOUT are covered in this resource:

⭐As an adjective: TOUT - TOUS - TOUTE - TOUTES

⭐With adjectives: TOUT - TOUTE - TOUTES

⭐With adverbs and expressions: TOUT

⭐As a pronoun: TOUT - TOUS - TOUTES

Here's what is included:

50 sentence exercise (multiple choice and fill in the blank versions)

4 pages of grammar notes and examples

Three sets of cards are included. One has sentences with blanks and multiple choice answers. These cards include the answer written upside down at the bottom of the cards. This will allow students an opportunity to either work individually or in small groups and check their work as they go. A PDF with one card per page is included if you prefer not to print and either project to do a whole class activity or have students work on computers or tablets.

Another set is identical, but these cards don't include the answers at the bottom.

A third set includes the correct answer, an English translation, and a grammar explanation also in English so that students will know exactly why this is the response. A one card per page PDF is included for these cards as well.

I've laminated my cards so that I can pull them out time and again for a quick review on the many ways to use TOUT. There are enough of them that students won't necessarily see the same ones over and over every time you pull them out. Great for test review or for seniors after a long break.

French Advanced Grammar - All Pronouns Challenge Task Cards Activity

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Advanced French Grammar: 50 Pronoun Challenge Cards

These 50 cards will provide your advanced French students a good challenge while practicing and reviewing pronouns. Many resources only include basic pronouns and don't offer enough of a challenge. This is why I've created this set of cards. Each card includes instructions, a sentence to restate or rewrite using pronouns where indicated, a list of the types of pronouns students can choose from, and the answer is located upside down at the bottom of each card. This will allow students an opportunity to either work individually or in small groups and check their work as they go. Each card is numbered in case you decide to play a game and need that, but otherwise there is no order in which the cards must be used. I've laminated my set so that I can pull them out time and again for a quick pronoun review. There are enough of them that students won't necessarily see the same ones over and over every time you pull them out. Great for test review or for seniors after a long break. Click here for more French pronoun resources.

The following types of French pronouns are covered in this resource:

⭐Reflexive pronouns

⭐Disjunctive pronouns

⭐Indirect object pronouns

⭐Direct object pronouns

⭐Adverbial pronouns

⭐Relative pronouns

⭐Demonstrative pronouns

⭐Possessive pronouns

French Verbs - Multiple Tense Review Activity - Challenge Task Cards

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Name That Tense is an activity for reviewing verb tenses with your advanced French students_._ These 200 practice cards provide a challenging AP or French 4 review. You can use this activity on a few different levels. The most challenging way is to use the cards written in English, have students name the French tense that needs to be used, then have them translate the sentences to French. You may choose to use the cards written in French, and simply have students identify and name the tenses they read. This resource is included in my Advanced French Curriculum.

These practice cards provide an excellent opportunity to review the answers together, and to explain why each tense was chosen for a particular sentence. The files are easy to share with your students for distance learning.

The first 50 cards use these tenses: le présent, l'imparfait, le futur simple, le passé composé, le conditionnel, le plus-que-parfait et le conditionnel passé.

The second 50 cards use all of the tenses mentioned above, and also include cards using: le futur antérieur, le subjonctif, le subjonctif passé, l'impératif, et le passé récent, and many si clauses are included.

Included:

  • 100 practice cards written in English
  • 100 practice cards written in French
  • Answer key in French and English

French Relative Pronoun DONT Challenge Task Cards Activity

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Engage and challenge your students when reviewing and mastering the French relative pronoun DONT with this set of 25 challenge review cards. Take a look at the preview to see how you can use these grammar challenge cards in your French classroom.

Challenge cards are a nice alternative to classic worksheets. Each card contains two clauses to connect using the relative pronoun dont

Dont has always been particularly difficult for my students, and that's why I like to teach it separately. It's much less daunting when they know that dont is the relative pronoun that they need to use. These practice cards provide lots of different situation in which dont is needed, and they start to get used to it.

This set of cards is included in my comprehensive unit lesson plan on the French relative pronoun dont. After teaching dont on its own, I then like to follow up with a full lesson on qui, que, où, and dont. When I teach dont first, many of my students tell me they think it's easier than the other relative pronouns!

Check out all of my French grammar practice cards.

Ways to use these cards:

⭐  Warm up work before class

⭐  Early finishers

⭐  Quiz and test review

⭐  Tutoring individuals or small groups

⭐  Whole class or paired activity

⭐ Print and laminate or use the cards digitally

Included:

  • 25 practice cards
  • Answer key

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Your French students will practice and master bon - bien - meilleur - mieux with this set of 60 adjective and adverb challenge review cards. This set of cards uses bon and bien as well as their comparative forms meilleur and mieux, plus a whole lot more (see below).

French Futur Antérieur - French Challenge Task Cards Activity

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

French Futur Antérieur Practice Cards

Each card has a sentence written in the futur simple and your students must transform the sentence to the futur antérieur. This is a good cooperative speaking activity or if you choose you can use the cards as a written assignment. A student response sheet is included if you decide to use the cards this way.

There's a mixture of common regular and irregular verbs to work with. There are verbs using both avoir and être as helping verbs as well as a few reflexives (even two that don't require making agreement on the past participle as a challenge).

Students can work with a partner to practice speaking or they can work individually to practice writing. Practice cards are a nice alternative to worksheets which can sometimes seem tedious or boring.

Use the PDF with 1 card per page as a digital resource that you can share with your students, or use the version with 4 cards per page to print, cut out and laminate for years of no prep activities. In the upper left corner you'll see a space where you can neatly punch a hole in each card and then connect them with a ring.

Included with this product:

30 numbered futur antérieur practice cards - PDF - 1 per page

30 numbered futur antérieur practice cards - PDF - 4 per page

Answer key

Student response sheet

French Subjunctive - Il faut que - French Challenge Task Cards Activity

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

French Subjunctive Practice Cards - Il faut que - Distance Learning

This set of 50 study cards is meant to help students practice and master forming the French present subjunctive. Each card provides a sentence with a blank where the verb should be. The verb to use is written in the infinitive form at the top of each card. 25 cards begin with Il faut que, and 25 begin with Il ne faut pas que.

Students practice using regular and irregular verbs in the subjunctive, and the English translations provided on the answer key will be most helpful as they come across new vocabulary and ways of saying things. None of the English translations begin with It is necessary that, because that isn't the best way to say these sentences in English. Students will gain better knowledge of why the subjunctive is used by working with so many different examples. This set of practice cards is included in my French Subjunctive Bundle and in my Advanced French Curriculum Bundle.

Included:

  • 50 practice cards
  • Answer key in French and English
