French Dots and Boxes Game - L'AUTOMNE / FALL - No prep printable

An easy and fun no-prep game that will elicit a lot of exposure and pronunciation for the target vocabulary! This is a one-page dots & boxes game including directions. See below for the included vocabulary. This game could be laminated and used repeatedly with dry-erase markers or played on an iPad with annotation/whiteboard tools.

Objective: Complete more boxes than your component. Each player draws lines using a different color. On your turn, make a horizontal or vertical line from one dot to another. Say the words on either side of the line you drew. If you complete a box on your turn, draw an X in the box using your color. Once all of the boxes have been completed, count to see who got the most.

The catch is that they cannot mention anything that is included in a list of taboo words.

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card.

Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

These French speaking prompt cards are perfect for reinforcing grammar, vocabulary, and getting your students to speak French together! Very low prep. 30 question cards are included. Almost all of the questions are asked in the tu or vous form and require students to reply using je. Some of the questions encourage oui and non responses, but never without pushing for a bit more information like asking pourquoi.

All cards are visually stimulating and feature a circle to punch out in the upper left corner so that you can print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and hook the cards together with a ring. Using these cards this way makes it easy to pull them out year after year to use as NO PREP speaking activities.

There are many ways you can use this set of speaking cards:

➤ Print, cut out, laminate , punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions.

➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.

➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements.

➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.

Teaching French automne - fall vocabulary?  Looking for an engaging way to get your French students to build their communication skills and vocabulary? Taboo is a fun French speaking and listening game where one student has to guess a word based on clues given in French by other students. The catch is that they cannot mention anything that is included in a list of taboo words.

All of the words on each card are written in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students whether they are beginners or very advanced. Classic French Taboo Games Bundle - 3 Versions

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card.

Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

Want your French students to use their AUTOMNE vocabulary in a conversation? This NO PREP activity is a fun way to encourage your students to speak more and is a perfect resource to use in immersion, core or homeschool curriculums.

You can use these cards after teaching specific vocabulary for L'AUTOMNE or as a fun interactive activity on a day when you want to just focus on speaking and reviewing vocabulary in a different way. There are many ways you can use this set of task cards:

➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions.

➤ Project the pdf file in class to work in group or with your whole class and avoid printing.

➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box.

➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements.

➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer.

➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards.

➤ Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer true or false and to correct the false statements. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question. All cards are numbered so it is simple to stay organized. Full instructions are included.

➤ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move.

➤ Use the cards as an icebreaker activity.

STEP 2:  Distribute the 10 reading comprehension questions.  Have students read them before reading the story for greater understanding of the information they will need to retain.

STEP 3:  Distribute the 1 page story, and either have students read it silently, or read it together as a class with the teacher calling on individual students to read a passage aloud. 

STEP 4:  Students answer ten comprehension questions either in written form as they read silently, or do the exercise orally as a whole class activity once everyone has finished.

L'automne - Lecteurs débutants - French Reader Cut and Paste

This set of five RÉSOUS-LE / SOLVE THE SENTENCE hands-on puzzle activities will keep your primary French students engaged while learning to read by putting words together to form sentences. This set follows an autumn theme and includes sight words (mots fréquents) for first and second grade.

In addition to having fun while reading, students will be challenged and develop reasoning skills while solving each of the 5 puzzles. This French Listening comprehension digital Boom Cards set with 32 different cards will get your students practicing their listening skills on their computers or tablets after learning 32 Fall Vocabulary Words using the 32 Flash cards also included. You can use the flash cards to project in class or print the cards in color or B&W to use in groups. I use them as a guessing game for instance. One student picks a card and has to describe what it is to the group. You can play a version where the group asks 20 questions also!

➯ Do a race with all your students, see who finishes first and has the least mistakes.
➯ Project on the screen and have students respond and open discussion.
➯ Use the cards for small group work, tutoring sessions or for test review.

Free accounts include the ability to assign Boom Cards to unlimited students (without progress reports) using the Fast Play pin option available in the Library."
