EN ANGLAIS:

• Victor says he’s reading a novel.
• What did Victor say?
• Victor said he was reading a novel.

EN FRANÇAIS:

• Victor dit qu’il lit un roman.
• Qu’est-ce que Victor a dit?
• Victor a dit qu’il lisait un roman.

The following tenses are used in this resource:

⭐ présent - imparfait
⭐ imparfait - imparfait
⭐ passé composé - plus-que-parfait
⭐ futur proche - imparfait
⭐ futur simple - conditionnel

Step 1 - Distribute the lesson guide and tense chart for students to observe and study the retelling of events using different verb tenses.

Step 2 - Students complete the exercises in written form and check their work.

Step 3 - Students use the set of numbered cards to practice oral production at their own pace. This can also be a paired speaking activity or a whole class.

Step 4 - Listen to the audio recording of the exercises while reading along with the set of numbered practice cards. Each prompt is read twice, and time is then given to speak the response.

Step 5 - Listen to the audio recording of the exercises without the help of the practice cards to work on listening comprehension and oral production at the same time. Use the answer key from the exercise to check responses when needed.

Test your students' French reading comprehension while giving them lots of exposure to matching tenses / la concordance des temps in French. This concept is key to telling stories using tenses that match up in context. With this French reading passage and comprehension questions, your students will see many verbs in action, and they'll see why and how different tenses are used.

This French reading Google Forms quiz includes ten multiple choice questions. Students read the text carefully and reply to the comprehension questions. This is not a beginner level quiz. Making inferences, connections, and predictions are part of the reading comprehension exercise.

This quiz is editable and is easy to print as a PDF, though a PDF is not included with this resource. Printing is an option on the Google Form. Instructions are included (see preview).
