This French passé composé reflexive verbs worksheet is a no prep printable that you can use to have your students putting words in the correct order to form grammatically sound sentences using reflexive verbs in the passé composé. 10 sentences are written in the passé composé, and some include negation. The vocabulary used in this exercise is varied and doesn't follow a particular theme. It's not meant to be super easy, and this exercise is not a repeat of the present tense version. Answer key is included.

Need a creative way for students to learn which verbs use être as a helping verb in the passé composé? This engaging French lesson includes an original story with comprehensive listening, reading, and writing activities. After this lesson, your students will know and understand the 17 Dr. & Mrs. P. Vandertramp verbs. Here's a fun game that you can use to have your students practice conjugating these verbs.

EXPECT YOUR STUDENTS TO:

• identify verbs that use être as a helping verb
• strengthen listening comprehension at their level
• remember to make agreement on past participles
• learn new vocabulary by reading in French
• be amused by this creative story

STEP 1:

• Download, print, and distribute the Dr. & Mrs. P. Vandertramp chart.
• 17 verbs that use être as a helping verb are written in French with English translations.
• Past participles are included.

STEP 2:

• Listen to an audio recording of an original story that uses all 17 verbs that use être in the passé composé to work on listening comprehension, and to see how much students can understand.
• Download worksheet #1 and have students fill in the blanks (subjects, helping verbs, and past participles) as they listen to the story again.
• Download, print, and distribute the full text (2 pages) and have students read along as they listen again.
• Download worksheet #2 and have students fill in the blanks (helping verbs and past participles only - subjects and infinitives are included) NOT while listening to the story. 

STEP 3:

• Dictée - Listen to the audio recording and have students write everything they hear on the lines provided.
• This is a good exercise in listening comprehension, and they'll need to pay close attention to number and gender to spell the past participles correctly.
• Subject pronouns along with number and gender are included on the student response sheet.
• As they listen, they will write helping verbs and past participles.

Just print out one page of the version you want to use per student. Students place boats (which are squares on the game sheets that they will have darkened with a pencil) on the game board. Students play against each other to try to find and eventually sink their opponent’s boats. This game is also part of my $ saving French Passé Composé Bundle - Être ou Avoir?
Subject pronouns are written in the vertical column and infinitives are written in the boxes at the top. To choose a square, the player must say the subject and correct verb form in the passé composé using either être or avoir as helping verb. If you wanted to practice writing in the passé composé you could have your students do that. All of the vocabulary they’ll need is written right on the game sheet and it is all in French. Each game sheet includes two battleship grids and a line separating the two. Students can fold the paper on the line if they want to. One of the grids is for a player to place his boats and the other is to mark and keep track of his opponent. You and your students may also enjoy my collection of passé composé resources.

Everyone loves a good game of BATTLESHIP, and the French classroom is a better place than any! You can use this classic game format to practice the passé composé with être as helping verb. This resource is included in my French 2 grammar, vocabulary, task cards, games and activities GROWING BUNDLE

This resource includes 40 regular verbs that use être as helping verb (including reflexive verbs). 5 different versions of the game are included. Check out my collection of BATAILLE NAVALE games, sold separately for $4 each
. Just print out one page of the version of this game that you want to use per student. Students place boats (which are squares on the game sheets that they will have darkened with a pencil) on the game board. Students play against each other to try to find and eventually sink their opponent’s boats. Subject pronouns are written in the vertical column and infinitives are written in the boxes at the top. To choose a square, the player must say the subject and correct verb form in the passé composé. If you wanted to practice writing in the passé composé you could have your students do that. Another idea is to have students make simple sentences using the subject pronoun and verb of choice. All of the vocabulary they’ll need is written right on the game sheet and it is all in French. Each game sheet includes two battleship grids and a line separating the two. Students can fold the paper on the line if they want to. One of the grids is for a player to place his boats and the other is to mark and keep track of his opponent. This resource includes 5 versions of the game with both black and white and color copies. Here's how the QUEL DOMMAGE game works:

STEP 1

• Print the game cards on heavy paper or card stock and cut them out.
• Laminate the cards

STEP 2

• Put all of the game pieces in a box and divide your students into small teams.
• Give each team gets a box of questions and a copy of the answer key.
• Students must replace the underlined words in the sentences with pronouns (for example) and say the sentence correctly. When they are correct, they get to keep their game card. However, when they draw a QUEL DOMMAGE card they have to put all of their game cards back in the box.
• The student with the most game cards at the end is the winner.

Verb Race is a fun and very exciting way to practice the passé composé with être conjugations. Your students are going to love this set of 75 French verbs to use in the fast moving verb race game.
