Students divide into teams and play a dice game, the dice determining which subjects and verbs to conjugate. Check out the preview to see exactly how you can use this activity in your French classroom to practice 32 different être expressions as well as the conjugation of the verb in any tense you wish. Use this quizlet set to have your students practice the 32 expressions used in these games. The images you see on the quizlet are the same as those on the expressions list that is included.

Students work in teams. One student per team is in charge of checking everyone's work. You'll need two dice per team. The first die indicates the subject to use and the second indicates which être expression to identify. Only the images are shown. There is no English written anywhere on these games.

Teaching French être expressions?  Looking for an engaging way to get your French students to build their communication skills and vocabulary? Taboo is a fun French speaking and listening game where one student has to guess a word based on clues given in French by other students. The catch is that they cannot mention anything that is included in a list of taboo words.

All of the words on each card are written in French and English. This is very useful as many of the words will be new to students whether they are beginners or very advanced. You can easily modify this game to play it with all levels!  You are going to love hearing your students speaking in French to each other using être expressions.

Classic French Taboo Games Bundle - 3 Versions

Object of the game:

One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the underlined word at the top of the card.

Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

Beginner students should be allowed to use the French TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

Do you find it nearly impossible to find French grammar based reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities?  The focus on specific grammar themes seems to get pushed aside when you want to incorporate all of the other skills.  This is a set of four booklets based on the French verb être and expressions with être. 

When you’re teaching the verb être, you may not want everything you do to be absolutely grammar based, because that can become boring.  

This set of four one-page front and back, no-prep booklets includes reading comprehension with questions, a grammar quiz, a writing exercise with three activities, and a partnered writing and speaking activity. 

These activities do not include rules. The activities in these booklets are not for absolute beginners.

These activities are meant to provide your students with an opportunity for a challenging review of this grammar topic.

All of the booklets are based on mastering être and être expressions.

Once you’ve taught the rules, it’s time to have some fun with être!

32 French être expressions task cards to use when teaching this important verb. These cards are for beginners, so they're all in the present tense. Students are required to make sentences based on the prompts written on each card. Just print out as many sets of the cards as you will need, cut them out and laminate for future use if possible.
