Bump Sight Words~Kindergarten, Literacy Center, High Frequency Words, Game
By Regina Frazier
Students will love playing Bump as they learn kindergarten sight words as well as practice simple addition as they add numbers shown on two dice. This product includes several sight words found in many popular reading programs. A set of directions is included and you can run off these directions on the back of game cards so parents will know how to play the game at home with their child.
You can use this product in both a literacy or a math center and students will just love playing the game with this silly fun monster theme. This product also works well with just about any reading program you may be using for kindergarten.
Directions: For this game, each pair of students will need two dice, one game board, and 10 unifix cubes each or other items you can stack. (they must have the same amount and each student must use a different colored set of counters). Player 1 rolls the 2 dice and finds the total. Students will need to read the word in that space and put one unifix cube on the space with their total on it. Player 2 does the same. If Player 2 rolls a total that Player 1 has already occupied with 1 unifix cube, Player 2 can "bump" Player 1 off that space, and Player 1 has to take back their unifix cube. If a player rolls a total that that they already have 1 unifix cube on, they can stack another unifix cube on top of it. They now "own" this space. The other player cannot play on that space - if they roll that total, they do not get to play a unifix cube. Players can continue stacking their unifix cubes on the spaces they own. The player who places all of their unifix cubes on the board first wins the game.
Enjoy simple addition facts and reading sight words while using this fun-filled activity.
