Is there Spring Fever in the air? These activities will get your Spanish students speaking, writing and writing about primavera in a variety of engaging ways! Practice interpretive listening, presentational and interpersonal speaking and writing while keeping students producing lots of Spanish!

The writing prompts are awesome! They are differentiated for Novice High and Intermediate Low students. Each level has 2 prompts; one about Spring themes so students have choice. This resource comes with

The Open-Ended Task Cards are also amazing! They are so versatile and can be used in so many ways! There are 20 different prompts related to spring themes and they encourage creativity with their language. Vocab that may be unfamiliar is given right on the card! Here are some ideas about how you can use them.
-print them. Pass them out to your class. Ask each student to do a 10 minute free write.

The Authentic Listening activity is a great way to practice listening comprehension. Students hear a native speaker describe why Medellin is considered the city of eternal spring! The YouTube video is short so students won’t feel overwhelmed. Comprehension questions and

The Spring Speaking Game forces students to use language creatively! The game cards are in the shape of flowers, and each flower contains a word related to spring. Students will help design the specifics of each round of the game, and the cards they hold are the ones they must use to create a story! The game comes with Teacher Notes, Student Instructions, Color and Black and White printable game pieces, a score card and a vocab list. Everything you need! Just add students!

Spanish Writing Prompts for Springtime for Novice and Intermediate

Are you practicing presentational writing skills with your Spanish students? How about a Group Challenge that focuses on Springtime?! This fun and engaging writing challenge will get your students to work together in small groups to produce high quality writing! This resource includes appropriate writing prompts for years 1, 2 and 3. Planning done for your whole day!
What I love about writing in this format is that teachers can provide specific feedback and even a grade in about ⅕ of the time! We can improve students’ skills and confidence by using peer discussion to clear up confusion about things like conjugating verbs and word order in sentences too! This is a high impact activity to use with your students!
This resource features 4 writing prompts at 2 levels: 2 for Novice High and 2 for Intermediate Low. Linked in is a blog post about Spring Festivals in Spain. Have your students give it a read and they can incorporate what they learned in their writing! There are lots of extras included too!

Spanish Speaking Game for Spring

Looking for a GAME that will make SPEAKING FUN in Spanish class? This spring-themed speaking activity will get students using their Spanish creatively! This low-prep game, called Flower Power, will have students competing to tell stories about a spring day! Easy to differentiate and scaffold with the included teacher instructions and vocab list!
How to play:
-Students choose flowers (each flower has a spring-related word)
-Students must create a story with the words on the flowers, forcing them to think on their feet and create a logical story with random words!
The variations of this game are endless and you can play it all spring long!
-Have students choose their own flowers or
-Have their opponent pick for them!
-Give students as much time as they need to tell their story or
-Set a time limit. Whoever used more flowers wins!
-Have students pick flowers one at a time instead of all at once
-Change the verb tense
-Change their opponents
-Try 2 v 2!
** You can even use this as a writing practice instead of speaking!
Increase your students’ ability to produce creative Spanish!
Teacher Prep:
-Print the flowers (color & black and white versions included)
-Photocopy enough flower sets for HALF of your class
-cut the flowers (6 print per page) *Perfect task for a student helper!

Spanish Authentic Listening Activity with Comprehension Questions Medellín

Authentic listening activities for Spanish class can be so hard to find! We want our students to practice their listening skills but we don’t want to spend an hour searching for a good video! This YouTube video is about Medellín, Colombia, known as the city of eternal spring! A young person takes us around his city and highlights some of the best tourist attractions. To check comprehension, students will answer questions as they watch. Students will make comparisons and discover similarities and differences between their own experience and the speaker’s experience in Chile. An answer key is also included!

Spanish Scenarios Spring Themed Task Cards for Speaking or Writing

These Spanish Task Cards are geared towards spring activities, vacations and events. Situation Task Cards are a great way to get your Spanish 1, 2, 3 and 4 students talking and using language creatively! (These are generic enough to be used with any curriculum!)
There are 20 different scenarios which give students an idea of what to talk about in a story that they make up. The task cards come in 3 versions! First I have a large scale digital version that can be displayed for the class. The other version is printable (4 cards per page) and comes in both black and white and an attractive color version. Slides come with helpful vocab that students may need to discuss the scenario.
These spring-themed task cards feature scenarios for present, past and future time frames. Google Slides can be modified if you need to change something to meet your students’ needs!
Also included is a peer feedback sheet and a self-assessment sheet and a vocab list for spring vocabulary!
