Spanish Travel & Vacation Activity Bundle for Speaking, Listening and Writing

Speaking, Writing and Listening are scaffolded and pre-differentiated with activities that stay with a familiar theme, Travel & Vacations. The scaffolds and familiar theme help students find the courage they need to fully participate and truly build skills! Interpersonal Listening, Speaking and Presentational Writing Activities are all included!
Guided Conversations:
Guided Convos provide a scenario about a familiar topic and an outline for students to use to keep the conversation going. Students work with a partner and choose the role of Person A or Person B. They can trade roles, trade partners, or even do the same exact conversation again! They never turn out the same way! Students report feeling much more confident and able to keep conversations going after practicing a few times!
These conversations have 2 different versions for Novice High students and 2 different versions for Intermediate Low students.
Integrated Listening & Speaking:
ILS activities are done alone. Students will listen to a recording, and be given instructions for how to respond. They might hear: “Tell me about….” Or “Ask me questions about…” . These activities mimic the speaking/listening portion of many popular Seal of Biliteracy Tests.
There is a pre-made student activity that requires no language lab! If you have a language lab or some other kind of recording software, the teacher script will allow you to record the audio for students if you desire.
There are 2 activities in this resource, each with 5 prompts. They are designed so that the first activity is a bit easier and the 2nd one a bit more challenging. Use with different levels or at the beginning and end of a unit!
✍️Scenario Task Cards:
Scenario Task Cards are my go-to for lots of things! I display one at the beginning of every class and ask students to take turns talking about the scenario. But I also use them as a lesson plan for a class activity! I have students change partners and have them tell a story about 5 times in a row, each time with a new scenario and a new partner. Then students switch roles. Listeners become the speakers. Finally, sometimes I print the scenarios and ask students to write about them in class or for homework!

Spanish Scenarios Travel, Vacation Situations Task Cards for Speaking or Writing

These Spanish Task Cards are geared towards travel, airports, train trips and lodging. Situation Task Cards are a great way to get your Spanish 2, 3 and 4 students talking and using language creatively! (These are generic enough to be used with any curriculum!)
There are 20 different scenarios which give students an idea of what to talk about in a story that they make up. The task cards come in 3 versions! First I have a large scale digital version that can be displayed for the class. The other version is printable (4 cards per page) and comes in both black and white and an attractive color version.
Also included is a peer feedback sheet and a self-assessment sheet! And best of all, all parts of this resource can be edited to suit your students’ needs!

How can I use this product?
- Teacher ideas included in the slides!
- Pair students and have them take turns telling stories based on their scenario
- Ask students to give peer feedback or self-assess
- Display task cards on your Smartboard for the class. Have one partner make up a story. Set a timer and challenge them to try to talk the entire time! Change the slide and have the other partner take a turn!
- Use these task cards as multiple versions of a speaking assessment. This allows for student choice and/or prevents students sharing the exact task for advance preparation.
- These task cards can also be used for writing prompts!
- Ask students to peer or self-assess using the included forms

Spanish Guided Partner Conversations about Travel and Vacation

Do your Spanish students need some help with interpersonal speaking? Are they struggling to have partner conversations in Spanish? Let’s give them some guided support with these guided conversations! Both students will have the opportunity to ask and answer questions as part of a conversation, but with a lot of scaffolding to build confidence.
There are 4 guided conversations, differentiated for Novice and Intermediate speakers. Each conversation has a Person A and a Person B, each with a role set by the conversation theme. Students are guided with general ideas for how to keep the conversation going!
These conversations focus on travel and vacation in the past time frame (preterite and imperfect). However, the conversations are designed to be as realistic as possible, and students have the opportunity to use other time frames and give advice if they wish.

- Spanish students in year 2 and up
How can I use this product?
- Students will work in partners to participate in a guided conversation
- Students will trade roles so both can practice asking questions and answering questions
- Teachers can assign these conversations as practice or as an assessment
- Students can practice the same conversations with multiple partners to increase comfort and proficiency!

Spanish Seal of Biliteracy Listening & Speaking for Travel and Vacations

Have you tried Integrated Listening and Speaking activities with your Spanish students? Use these IPA activities with the theme of travel and vacations to get students listening and responding- just like in tests like AAPPL for the Seal of Biliteracy! Integrated Performance Assessments mimic real-world interactions, and these activities are great practice for communication!
These no-prep activities include everything you need to assign and go! Each activity has 5 audio links. Students listen to the audio and record a logical response. They will hear common expressions used on the AAPPL Test like “Hazme preguntas, cuéntame and dame detalles”.
The teacher script allows you to correct with ease or even record your own voice if you choose. There are lots of notes and ideas for teachers so you know just how to use this activity! Finally, students can self-assess with the included rubric. The 2 activities are created with different levels of complexity, so you can differentiate for different levels amongst your students, or use them at different points in your unit!

- Spanish students in Year 2 and up
- Students learning vocabulary related to vacations, activities on vacation, airports, hotels and travel
- Students preparing for a Seal of Biliteracy test (it’s never too early to start practicing!)

- Students can record in your language lab or other purchased software OR they can use a FREE online recorder and paste their audio links into the assignment
