Original Prompt

I need a 5-minute class activity to help students understand "To identify the roles, responsibilities, and history of law enforcement, emergency medical service, and corrections professionals." This is for grades 10-12. The class is virtual.

This document explores the historical development, roles, and responsibilities of key professions within public safety: law enforcement, emergency medical services (EMS), and corrections. It highlights the evolution of these fields from informal community systems to structured, technology-driven services. Students learn to compare significant milestones for each profession, understand their interconnected roles within the criminal justice system, and engage in activities that reinforce their understanding of the duties and challenges faced by police officers, paramedics, and corrections officers. Additional sections cover historical context, formative assessments, and opportunities for reflection.
