This learning resource focuses on marginal analysis within microeconomics, aiming to enhance students' ability to apply key concepts to real-world scenarios. It includes three main scenarios: the hiring decision for a coffee shop barista, the assessment of marginal utility from consuming pizza, and the elasticity of demand through gasoline and movie tickets. Students are tasked to evaluate whether hiring an additional worker is beneficial, compute marginal utility from pizza, and analyze the response of consumption patterns with changes in price for inelastic and elastic goods. The document also addresses the Diamond-Water Paradox, explaining why water is cheap despite its essential nature and why diamonds are expensive due to their scarcity. Through various analyses, calculations, and reflections, students will deepen their understanding of economic decision-making based on marginal benefits and costs.
