This learning resource focuses on understanding mammals, emphasizing the main idea and supporting details in a story. It includes vocabulary building with key terms such as 'mammal,' 'fur,' and 'milk,' and engages students through reading about characteristics of mammals. The resource also incorporates dual-coding practice where students circle details seen in related pictures. Furthermore, it guides students on how to construct their own big idea house—representing the main idea as the roof and supporting details as the walls—with step-by-step examples and independent practice, specifically using lions as the main topic for illustration.
