gradual release student facing material introducing volume including checks for understanding and an exit ticket

This resource focuses on teaching students how to calculate the volume of rectangular prisms. It begins with an overview of what volume is defined as the amount of 3D space an object occupies, measured in cubic units. The resource provides explicit instruction through step-by-step guidance on how to find volume by counting unit cubes layer by layer, as well as utilizing the formula V = length × width × height. Several practice problems are included for students to apply their understanding both through counting cubes and using the volume formula. Additionally, there are sections for guided practice, independent practice, and self-reflection to assess comprehension and confidence in the topic. Students are encouraged to solve real-world volume problems, reinforcing application skills.
