This resource introduces the concept of systems thinking as a crucial approach to understanding and addressing complex environmental problems. It emphasizes that environmental challenges are interconnected and that actions can have unforeseen consequences. The document outlines the iterative design process, which involves designing, testing, and refining solutions based on stakeholder feedback. Activities encourage learners to explore specific environmental issues, identify primary causes and effects, and recognize the importance of various stakeholders. Case studies, such as the air pollution crisis in Los Angeles and the success of the Montreal Protocol, are provided to illustrate the significance of feedback in creating effective solutions. Additional sections guide students in analyzing stakeholder feedback, reflecting on ethical dimensions, and considering the broader impacts of their proposed solutions.
