Building Reading Fluency

Description

This resource aims to enhance students' fluent reading skills by engaging them in smooth and expressive reading exercises. The session includes building a solid foundation through high-frequency word cards to develop quick recognition and clarity. Students are encouraged to practice reading simple phrases aloud, promoting natural intonation and articulation. Echo reading activities allow them to listen and replicate sentences while developing pacing skills based on given criteria (slow, just right, and fast paces represented by a turtle, star, and rabbit, respectively). Partner reading enhances their ability to convey emotions through expression, with cues guiding tone and inflection. The resource culminates in an interactive segment where students complete sentences and illustrate pacing, encouraging collaboration and creativity in their reading journey.
