Faith and Justice
Make an activity for my grade 6 students on Black history month. Make it so it relates to a Christian view/perspective/connection as well. I want it to be at least 1 hour or more.
This educational resource explores the concepts of 'Imago Dei' (Image of God) and the inherent dignity of all people, particularly through the lens of Black historical figures who fought for justice and equality. It emphasizes how figures like Harriet Tubman and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. used their faith as a guiding principle in their efforts for civil rights. Key vocabulary includes 'dignity,' 'Imago Dei,' and 'civil rights,' which support a broader understanding of human value and moral law. Various activities such as reflections, character assessments, and discussion prompts encourage learners to connect faith with action and to reflect on the importance of recognizing and celebrating the contributions of Black individuals in history.
