Linear Functions
Standards
create the card sort with ten functions to sort and the quick question page: Station C – Representation Card Sort (A.3.B, A.3.C) Cards with: equation, table, verbal description, and graph of a line. Kids match the sets, then answer quick questions: “What is the slope?” “What does the y-intercept mean here?” “Is this increasing or decreasing?”
This activity focuses on connecting various representations of linear functions, including equations, tables, graphs, and verbal descriptions. Participants will use a card sorting method to match these different representations, enhancing their understanding of how each format conveys the same mathematical information. Also included are spaces for observations, analysis questions, and a creation section for students to develop their own linear function from scratch.
