create a resource that will help my students with writing their argumentative essay. My students need help with introducing evidence, EXPLAINING evidence, and then connecting it back to the claim. We are learning the Point Evidence Explain Link (peel) method. This is the prompt: To what extent should people be held responsible for their actions in life-or-death situations?
This guide focuses on mastering the PEEL (Point, Evidence, Explain, Link) method of structuring paragraphs in argumentative writing, specifically addressing moral responsibility in life-or-death situations. It outlines the purpose of each component of a PEEL paragraph, emphasizes the importance of selecting strong evidence, and provides strategies for explaining how that evidence supports your argument. The guide includes practical examples, common pitfalls to avoid, and a self-assessment checklist to ensure clarity and coherence in writing. Additionally, it features exercises for practicing evidence integration and constructing full PEEL paragraphs based on various scenarios.
