SubjectGlaciers

This document explores the fascinating world of glaciers and icebergs, detailing their formation, movement, and the significant role they play in shaping the Earth's landscape. It defines glaciers as vast, slow-moving rivers of ice that form from accumulated snow and contrasts them with icebergs, which are large ice chunks that have calved from glaciers and float in water. The text describes how glaciers move downhill under the force of gravity, a process accompanied by accumulation and ablation. It emphasizes glaciers' impact as Earth sculptors, shaping land through weathering and erosion. Key landforms created by glaciers, such as U-shaped valleys, moraines, and kettle lakes, are discussed, highlighting the slow but powerful changes that glaciers enact over thousands of years.
