This resource aims to enhance understanding of the eight Scientific and Engineering Practices (SEPs) by guiding learners in identifying and categorizing real-world scientific scenarios. It begins with an overview of each SEP, simplified to ensure clarity. The practices include Asking Questions, Developing Models, Planning Investigations, Analyzing Data, Using Mathematics, Constructing Explanations, Engaging in Argument, and Communicating Information. Following the introduction, the resource features a warm-up activity that matches scientific actions to their corresponding SEPs. It also incorporates a collaborative Think-Pair-Share activity, where learners evaluate provided scenarios to determine the applicable SEP and explain their reasoning. A challenge question encourages creativity, prompting learners to create their own scientific scenario and identify the corresponding SEP.
