This learning resource provides an engaging challenge centered on currency conversion, taking students through the process of converting British Pounds to US Dollars while preparing for a hypothetical trip from Belfast to New York. It begins with a mission briefing where the exchange rate is introduced (£1 = $1.34), followed by step-by-step conversion exercises, real-life applications like airport snacks, and souvenir purchases. Students are encouraged to practice calculations, identify mistakes in conversion calculations, predict spending based on their budgets, and ultimately assess their remaining funds after shopping. It includes benchmark values and spaces for students to perform calculations, promoting hands-on learning.
