3 informational texts pieces that allow my students to answer in RACE format.
The RACE Writing Strategy is a structured approach to crafting written responses that ensures clarity and detail. It comprises four key components: Restate, Answer, Cite, and Explain. The 'R' stands for Restate, where you reformulate the question in your answer. The 'A' represents Answer, which requires addressing all facets of the question. The 'C' stands for Cite, where you provide direct evidence from the text, such as quotes or specific facts. Finally, the 'E' stands for Explain, where you elucidate how the evidence supports your answer. This strategy is exemplified through model responses that differentiate between strong and weak answers, guiding students on how to effectively utilize this method in their writing. Alongside the RACE framework, the resource emphasizes its application in various contexts, such as environmental issues and scientific advancements, encouraging learners to practice independently using provided prompts.
