Black History Art Projects

These mixed media projects inspired by the contemporary artist Curtis Talwst Santiago will inspire your students to explore their creativity, create texture, and celebrate Black History Month.  This lesson is designed for 2nd - 5th grade students but can easily be adapted for middle school students.  

This lesson is highly engaging, cross-curricular, and uses a wide variety of media to create 6 different projects.  Additional ideas for variation are included. Set up stations and let your students choose a project or rotate through and complete several while exploring texture and learning about contemporary artist Curtis Talwst Santiago and Black History Month
