This product includes 2 social stories that focus on self advocacy for students who are Deaf and hard of hearing. Each short story includes comprehension questions that relate with the social story. Some of the questions require students to put their feet in the shoes of characters who are experiencing a problem. When students are reading each story, they will review the importance of advocating for themselves. The vocabulary word advocacy and the different tenses that the word can be used is reviewed and discussed, students will learn and discuss what advocacy means, how we advocate for ourselves, examples of how one can advocate for themselves, why it is important to advocate for ourselves and others, and why advocacy can be challenging is included in this product. The two stories include topics regarding advocating for oneself if you are unable to hear someone that is asking you a question or are in need of help locating batteries or amplification devices.
