Dough number build and write printing practice- Fine Motor OT

Build and write numbers dough activity for Numbers 1-9

In this hands on, multisensory activity, students won’t even realize they are learning! In this resource, they will learn letter formation by first building the number with doh or putty, tracing the number, and then writing the number.

Building letters and numbers with putty and doh is not only a fun and engaging way to learn letter formation, but students are working on foundational fine motor skills needed for writing. Students don’t have to use a pencil for writing, try broken crayons (broken crayons help promote tripod grasp pattern), q-tip painting, or fingerpaint. When writing numbers for this activity, students use handwriting letter boxes with starting point to help with letter size, placement, and spacing. Perfect for pre-K and kindergarten centers, as well as OT groups, homeschool, and handwriting practice
