This drawing journal was created for my kindergarten students after years of students asking me how to draw people, backgrounds, etc. when we began writing. Illustrations are the basis of students writing at the early stages, and too often we as teachers assume students know how to draw. This was a total game changer in my classroom! Not only were students less frustrated, but I could devote more time to the actual writing because I was not having to help each student with their drawings. This is a MUST in any pre-k - first classroom before beginning writing!
