Famous Women in Sports Reading Comprehension Passages|Women History Month

Celebrate Women History Month using this set of 7 of the most influential or Famous Women in Sports Reading Comprehension Passages. The passages are designed for students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Each passage features a short biography of a famous female athlete, followed by 8 multiple-choice questions that test the student’s understanding of the text.

The passages cover a range of sports, such as tennis, boxing, racing, the Boston Marathon, and soccer. The women in sports included in this set are:

  • Mia Hamm: A soccer legend who won two World Cups and two Olympic gold medals, and became the all-time leading scorer in international soccer history.

  • Claressa Shields: A boxer who grew up in poverty and violence, and went on to become the first American boxer, male or female, to win two Olympic gold medals and four world titles in different weight classes
