This math ring packet includes problems and word problems for solving one more and one less. While this set is listed for the 1st grade level, it can easily be adapted for use in a Kindergarten setting when introducing one more and one less concepts. Each set has several levels of difficulty and are differentiated to help reach all students where they are in their learning.

Set 1: This set has number cards for find one more of numbers less than 20. Students are to draw the number then add one more. Then they are to fill in the addition problem and the number bond to match what they drew. This set of cards has two difficulty levels, represented in the amount of the equation already filled in.

Set 2: This set has number cards for find one more of numbers more than 20, up to 100. Students are to draw the number (using base ten block pictures) then add one more. Then they are to fill in the addition problem and the number bond to match what they drew. This set of cards has two difficulty levels, represented in the amount of the equation already filled in.

Set 3: This set is a set of word problems for showing one more. Students will read the problem, then draw a representation of the word problem. Then they are to fill in the addition problem and the number bond to match what they drew. This set of cards has three difficulty levels, one set of cards has sums up to 10 and the other has sums up to 20. The 3rd set has sums up to 100.

Set 4: This set has number cards for find one less of numbers less than 20. Students are to draw the number then cross one out. Then they are to fill in the subtraction problem and the number bond to match what they drew. This set of cards has two difficulty levels, represented in the amount of the equation already filled in.

Set 5: This set has number cards for find one less of numbers more than 20, up to 100. Students are to draw the number (using base ten block pictures) then cross one out. Then they are to fill in the subtraction problem and the number bond to match what they drew.
