French Subjunctive and Subordinating Conjunctions Lesson Plan Distance Learning

This is an advanced French grammar lesson plan in which students will learn which subordinating conjunctions trigger the subjunctive. This lesson is meant for students who have already learned how to form the subjunctive. The purpose of this lesson is to see the subjunctive being used with conjunctions in meaningful context (a story), and to practice using the cards provided with an answer key. Lesson guide with audio

Story using the subjunctive with conjunctions with audio

Practice cards with audio

Step 1: Provide students with the lesson guide

Step 2: Have students listen to the audio lesson, or teach it yourself

Step 3: Have students listen to the audio instructions before looking at the story.

Step 4: Have students read the story aloud using the subjunctive with conjunctions. An English translation is provided on the second page.

Step 5: Have students listen to the audio version of the story.

Step 6: Have students listen to the story again while reading along (aloud).

Step 7: Students practice forming the subjunctive with conjunctions with a set of 25 practice cards. An answer key with English translations is included. There is a no print version that students can open on their devices as well as a version with 4 cards per page that you can print and cut out if you prefer.

Step 8: Listening comprehension and oral production: Students listen to the audio recording of all of the sentences from the practice cards. Each sentence is read twice. Practice oral production by reading along aloud with the speaker. They can use the answer key to read along.
