French reading Compréhension de Lecture Eleanor of Aquitaine

This French reading comprehension activity will teach your students about the life of French queen Eleanore of Aquitaine and her reign.  It is suitable for novice-high/intermediate-low students with teacher guidance and higher level students to work independently.  If you teach AP French, this reading can be useful in giving your students practice reading non-fiction articles for the interpretive section of the test.  The reading can lead to discussion or writing activities to include the other two modes of communication.

Eleanor of Aquitaine was one of the strongest female rulers in history, and she led a long and full life. But it wasn't always the happiest life - she was overshadowed by two powerful husbands and eventually locked up in exile. Her children became rulers in their own right and she is now remembered as one of the great women rulers of European history. Learn about her troubles and triumphs in this reading for French learners.
