This French reading comprehension activity will teach your students about the invention and use of the Concorde aircraft. It is suitable for novice-high/intermediate-low students with teacher guidance and higher level students to work independently.  If you teach AP French, this reading can be useful in giving your students practice reading nonfiction articles for the interpretive section of the test.  The reading can lead to discussion or writing activities to include the other two modes of communication.

The Concorde was an amazing piece of machinery, able to transport passengers from Paris to New York in less than 3 hours. It was also very safe, with only one fatal accident in 27 years of operation. What made this aircraft different from other jets, and why did operation of the Concorde cease?
