What is culture and how do we learn our culture?
Is it the make up of both visible and invisible characteristics? What are these visible and invisible traits that we learn through enculturation from those influences around us? This lesson covers topics from cultural diffusion & assimilation to globalization & space-time compression to cultural landscape & multiculturalism and taboos to subculture. You student will have a complete understanding of all things "culture". They will complete a graphic organizer and will play a interactive musical chairs comprehension game to engage them in the learning process. This is a great introduction activity to get your students started down to the road to grasping the concept of culture.
OBJECTIVE:
· The learner will learn how one culture can influence or change another culture.
· The learner will learn what cultural similarities they may have with each other.
· The learner will have a basic understanding of the word “culture.”
· The learner will understand how subcultures influence the world around them and how they find their
place in the world.
· The learner will understand how culture changes over time and through diffusion, assimilation and globalization.
