This lesson is easy enough for 5th graders to understand yet works well with students up to grade 12. Modifications can be made as needed.

Need a great introductory activity and a way to help students visualize landforms rather than implement the simple "write the word and definition" intro activity?

Give students the opportunity to acquire a mental picture of what each landform looks like by having them illustrate each landform based on the definition provided. This is a great way to assess their understanding of the description of each landform.

In addition, have students explore the world identifying examples of each landform and their locations by using maps, internet and other resources.

This is also a great tool for student evaluation at the end of the unit.
