This two page resource is a must for a pre-reading assignment for the book Mr. Popper's Penguins by Florence and Richard Atwater. It includes six statements where students need to decide if they strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, and strongly disagree. They then have to give their reasoning. These statements correlate to themes and lessons they will read throughout the book and it gives students a fun and engaging way to get their minds activated before reading!
** Research has shown that deeper comprehension takes place when students are engaged in activities that bridge prior knowledge with what they are about to learn. This product will help students connect the novel to their already existing knowledge in order to make the new reading more stimulating and engaging.
