DESCRIPTION
This in-depth Lesson Plan Packet for the book Neema’s Reason to Smile by Patricia Newman helps students explore real life issues, specifically the challenges/barriers children face in accessing an education. In addition to a variety of engaging activities centered around education, the lesson plan includes a close reading of the book and the watching of a video that is related to the overall themes and topics presented in this book. (Video link included in the lesson plan). Students will engage in multiple activities where they will practice the following skills: inferencing, compare and contrast, and self-to-text, text-to-text, and world-to-text connections. Worksheets and Assessments are differentiated.
An editable version of the Lesson Plan has been included to allow you to modify as you wish!
