Students research and reflect:

In alignment with the study of Oceania, students will research one of 8 different indigenous cultures of Oceania. They will complete an infographic to display the information they have collected.

Cultures included:

• Aborigines
• Maori
• Asmat
• Purari/Namau
• Asaro Mudmen
• Tahitian
• Samoan
• Hawaiian

Topics to be researched:

• location
• government
• economy
• religion
• language
• interesting fact

Students also have the opportunity to answer extension questions which will help them connect their research to their real world experience.

This activity aligns with Indiana Social Studies Standards: 6.G.2, 7.G.1, 7.G.2, 7.G.6.
