Peer pressure is real and all too common! Teens constantly experience all kinds of peer pressure both in and out of school. Peer pressure can ultimately affect teens' decision-making, behaviors, attitudes, and outlook on life. It's often hard to navigate difficult situations and say no, especially when there is a strong human need to fit in and feel important.
This resource focuses on negative peer pressure, providing opportunities for teachers, educators, counselors, and parents to:
★ help students make better decisions when it comes to awkward or difficult situations
★ help students say "no" when they have to
★ help students set and communicate social boundaries
★ help students consider the possible consequences of choices
★ help students build confidence
Additionally, these scenarios allow opportunities for you to teach your students exit strategies or ways to say "no" to negative pressures. Together, you can think through strategies on how to deal with those scenarios if they arise. This can even be done by discussing the scenarios and role-playing. It is helpful to think about these things ahead of time rather than dealing with situations as they occur or trying to recover after they happen.
The scenarios encourage students to think about and practice how to:
- navigate difficult situations and challenges with peers and close friends
- practice and suggest ways to say no
- have difficult conversations with the very people they spend a great deal of time with
- build confidence in managing their emotions
- handle challenging situations with a sense of maturity
- improve social skills and behavior
- evaluate best solutions in different situations
- solve problems
This resource features (and is centered around) 48 REAL-LIFE, peer pressure scenarios/situations that teens and young adults experience daily in school and out of school. Students read the scenarios and write, discuss, or create role-plays/skits on how to maturely handle peer pressure in these situations.

This resource includes 48 Peer Pressure Scenario Task Cards that come in the following variations:
- 48 Peer Pressure COLORED Task Cards
- 48 Peer Pressure B&W Task Cards
The Scenario Task Cards can be used as part of a larger lesson, in guided small groups, whole-class discussions, partner discussion before sharing out with the larger group or class, or even one-on-one with a teacher, guidance counselor, or parent/guardian! These two different Task Cards variations contain the same scenarios. You can print the Task Cards out on gloss paper or regular paper and laminate. You may also organize them in a binder ring.

❤️ How/When To Use the Scenario Task Cards❤️
- Role-Playing: Students can collaborate in pairs or groups to act out a variety of scenarios and demonstrate appropriate responses. Role-playing activities can also be used to demonstrate how to appropriately handle or navigate negative peer pressure. Students will be exposed to a variety of ways they can handle negative peer pressure. This activity can ultimately improve confidence, communication, and assertiveness skills.
- Icebreaker: This can be a great way to start a meeting, training session, or team-building activity. It’s also a great way to get students to get to know each other and buy into the purpose of an upcoming activity or lesson.
- Play Writing Exercise: Students can work in groups to create skits or scenes then perform the skit for the class.
- Writing Response: Students can be given a scenario to read and then write their responses. Students can switch papers with a partner who then reads their responses and determines whether they agree/disagree with their responses/approaches to these real-life scenarios/ situations.
- Discussion: Students can discuss the Scenario Task Cards in groups or whole class. They can discuss things like “What would you do?”, "How can you respectfully handle this situation," “Why would you do that?”, and “What are some other options you could consider?”
