- guides students through the discovery of equal proportions in the sides of similar triangles.
- reviews relevant Algebra skills with ratios and proportions.
- applies the new found knowledge of ratio and proportion in real-life situations by determining the height of real-life objects.
This task can also be done as an outside activity where students collect the data of Task 6 and 7 for themselves, and then calculating the height of any object at school or in their own back yard. The project has been tried and tested many times and works really well.
