Wanna Pet My Puppy? - A Late Beginner Piano Solo

Wanna Pet My Puppy? is a whimsical piano solo for the late beginner which is set in 4/4 time signature in C Major. Students will place their hands in a C 5-Finger position to play the song. In the left hand, students will need to occasionally extend their thumb to play Bass A’s, but everything else is in the C 5-Finger position.

The middle section of the song, measures 9-16, there are E-Flats in the right hand part, which eventually change back to E naturals to give this section a blues-y minor feeling. Toward the end of the song, students will see an octave sign telling the student to play the very last C in the left hand an octave lower.

Depending on where your student is at level wise, we’ve included two different versions of the song that you can use:

  1. Version 1 with regular note heads.
  2. Version 2 with note names written into the note heads.

I hope you and your students have fun playing the song!
