Social Studies, Create Your Own Social Studies Task Cards (Template)

Want to create aesthetic, useful task cards for your class, but just don't have the time to create a template? This pre-made, reusable template will help you save time. You can adapt these tasks cars to any social studies lesson. All you need is 24 questions and Microsoft Word, Photoshop, Adobe editor, or another program that will let you add graphics and text.

A PDF Template (Add your questions using an Adobe editing program such as Adobe Reader)

What are task cards?

They are great for the introduction and review of any subject. Post them around the room and have students on a timed rotation to visit each station/task card and complete it, giving students a time frame in which to do so.

Students will have fun with this high-level, fun thinking activity. This lesson is a wonderful introduction activity. This will encourage students to explore the characteristics that define a nation: economics, culture, government, religion, etc.

This is best used as a beginning-of-the-year activity to understand the concept of what a nation is.

Students will work in groups to create a "Country Recipe" of a country/nation based upon its economic, political, and cultural characteristics.

The outcome? Students will understand what it means to be a "nation", whether a developed nation or a developing nation.

This lesson is easy enough for 5th graders to understand yet works well with students up to grade 12. Modifications can be made as needed.

Need a great activity for your South America study? These 24 task cards are a great way to both introduce the unit study or evaluate what students gained during the unit in a fun and interactive way. Not only is it fun, but it will get students moving around the room in an organized and timely manner, which will make the learning process fun and engaging.

Place these cards around the room and have students on a timed rotation. 24 pre-constructed task cards, a student answer sheet, and a teacher's key included. All you have to do, is print, cut, laminate if you wish, post in areas around the room, and let your students have fun learning. You may wish to provide atlases and resources at each station if your student's textbooks do not address these questions.

This is a great cooperative learning activity but can also be adapted to one student per card.

Geography: Central America Tic-Tac-Toe Activity (middle and high school)

(2) The original Tic-Tac-Toe Student Activity Word file. The buyer is given permission to change the questions on the Tic-Tac-Toe Student Activity Word file to meet the objectives of the lesson.

Need a new way to have students to research South America? Put a little twist in the lesson. Have students play Tic-Tac-Toe while learning about South America.

This lesson will not only give students autonomy and choices in what they learn, but will also create a fun way to have students complete research on South American government, economics, geography, and culture.

Students will receive a Tic-Tac-Toe board with multiple questions, 2 per square. Students will choose one question or activity from each Tic-Tac-Toe square to form a Tic-Tac-Toe horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. You may have students complete up to two Tic-Tac-Toe without answering the same question twice. If time is limited, you may shorten the lesson by having students complete only one Tic-Tac-Toe.

Students may work individually or with a partner to complete the research assignment.
