Fun Facts about Earth Day WebQuest & Poster Activity | Distance Learning

In this lesson, students learn more about Earth Day as they complete a WebQuest (Internet Scavenger Hunt) to research some questions about the holiday and the environmental conservation issues that it involves. Next, they choose a related topic of interest and research it in more depth to create a poster using software available on classroom computers or Web 2.0 tools such as PosterMyWall, Canva, Prezi, etc.
A complete answer key is provided for easy grading, along with resources for both teachers and students, full instructions for the project with topic ideas, and a grading rubric.
This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in upper elementary as well. It is appropriate for middle school science, social studies, or technology classes. This is a great lesson to leave with a sub too!

Create A Movie Using Microsoft Story Remix

Creating a Movie using Microsoft Story Remix utilizes the free software from Microsoft as a part of Photos, available in Windows 10 and above. It allows students to create a movie using still pictures or video clips. You will need Windows 10 (or higher) on your computer to access and use it.
In these lessons, students are provided with links to several excellent tutorials (both print and video versions), as well as links to other resources to help them with their designs.
There are two projects included with this lesson to allow the teacher and student a choice in how to demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Story Remix. Use one, both, or let students choose!
Resources Required
· Access to computers for each student with Internet access and Windows Version 10 or higher
Project Duration (approximate)
· Whole class overview demonstration of the basic program tools and resources for the lesson(s):

Videos, Photo Collages & eCards using Kizoa | Distance Learning

Creative Projects in Kizoa utilizes the free Web 2.0 tool www.kizoa.com which allows students to create and edit videos online, create ecards, photo collages, and edit photos. They can then share their finished product online or by saving it to their computer. No download is required to use the product, making it easy for teachers who are not able to download software on classroom computers to still give their students a choice in learning.
In these lessons, students are provided with a quick tutorial, as well as links to other resources to help them with their projects. The tutorial is intended to help students get started with the program and then use the resources within the program to refine their creations.
Also included is a list of 12 easy project ideas to allow the teacher and student a choice in how to demonstrate knowledge of Kizoa and the lesson content. Use one or let students choose from several! General project instructions and expectations, along with a grading rubric are also included.
